Creating. šŸŽØā˜€ļø Iā€™ve started making a little promis Creating. šŸŽØā˜€ļø Iā€™ve started making a little promise to myself. Whenever I can, I go to painting classā€¦ Not because I want to become the worldā€™s greatest painter... but because of how it makes me feel. Itā€™s one of the warmest, kindest communities Iā€™ve found. Charmaine has created something really special, and every time Iā€™m surrounded by people who encourage each other to keep creating, keep learning and just enjoy the process. Yesterday was absolutely roasting. šŸ„µ I wandered through Liverpool with my camera, spent the morning painting, then met my mum afterwards for some pub grub... mainly because we needed somewhere with air conditioning! šŸ˜‚ Then later I met my best girly and we sat on the roof terrace watching the world go by. Simple days like this are becoming some of my favourites. A few months from now, when itā€™s freezing outside, Iā€™ll look back at these photos and remember exactly how this day felt. The heat, the conversations, the paint-covered hands, people sitting outside, the city full of life. I was especially proud of the portrait I painted. Without really meaning to, I think it became about strength. About finding your own voice. About taking up space without apologising for it. The older I get, the more I realise that creativity isnā€™t just about making things. Itā€™s about becoming more yourself. Stop. Look. Remember. ā˜€ļøšŸ“ø I nearly didnā€™t take a Stop. Look. Remember. ā˜€ļøšŸ“ø I nearly didnā€™t take a photo yesterday. Iā€™d gone for a walk without my camera because, every now and then, itā€™s good to simply look instead of always trying to capture everything. Then, right before bed, I looked out of my bedroom window. Click. This morning Iā€™m so glad I did. This little corner has become one of my favourite parts of the summer. Friends from my building, football on the big screen, people wandering over to say hello, smiles, conversations... a tiny community growing outside my window. I was shattered. I only went down for five minutes... which by some miracle didnā€™t turn into longer. šŸ˜‚ And thatā€™s exactly why this photo matters to me. Itā€™s not because itā€™s the most dramatic picture Iā€™ve ever taken. Itā€™s because years from now, Iā€™ll look at it and instantly remember how this summer felt. Iā€™ve been setting myself the challenge of taking more photographs, not because I need more content, but because I donā€™t want life to rush past unnoticed. Ironically, itā€™s technology thatā€™s helped me do that. My camera isnā€™t pulling me away from life. Itā€™s encouraging me to step into it. To notice more. To say yes to moments Iā€™d otherwise forget. For me, thatā€™s what photography is really about. Not perfect pictures. Some Sundays just keep on giving... āš½šŸ“ø Iā€™d alread Some Sundays just keep on giving... āš½šŸ“ø Iā€™d already had one of those days that reminds me why I love photography. Iā€™d spent the day photographing a brilliant wedding, camera full of memories, feet absolutely knackered... and I thought that was me done. Then I got a message from some people in my building. ā€œCome down to the Bus Yard...ā€ So I did. One minute I was editing wedding photos. The next I was sat outside with brilliant people, watching the football, laughing, taking photos and somehow still awake at 1am. šŸ˜‚ and 5am šŸ˜ And what a game! Usually itā€™s ā€œCome on England...ā€ followed by a bit of heartbreak... Not this time. The place erupted. Strangers were cheering together, people were hugging, everyone was completely caught up in the moment. It wasnā€™t really about football. It was about people. Iā€™ve realised something since moving to Liverpool. Home isnā€™t always a place youā€™ve lived the longest. Sometimes itā€™s the place where people pull up another chair and say, ā€œCome and join us.ā€ Thatā€™s what this city keeps giving me. Little moments I never planned. Conversations I never expected. People who make an ordinary evening feel like a memory worth keeping. Iā€™m taking more photos than ever lately, and I think itā€™s because Iā€™m noticing more than ever. The best photos happen after people stop trying to The best photos happen after people stop trying to pose. šŸ¤ When couples tell me theyā€™re awkward in front of the camera, I always smile... because thatā€™s usually when the magic happens. Itā€™s never about standing in exactly the right place or copying someone elseā€™s Pinterest boardā€¦ā€¦.. Itā€™s about the little moments in between. The laugh that sneaks out.ā€ØThe forehead kiss they didnā€™t even realise happened.ā€ØThe way they look at each other when they forget the camera is there. These two absolutely nailed that. We wandered around Holmes Mill in Clitheroe, making the most of every backdrop we could find. Beautiful old stone walls, gorgeous modern spaces, cosy corners... it all became part of their story. None of it mattered as much as them. They arrived saying they felt a little nervous. later... they were laughing like thisā€¦ šŸ’• Thatā€™s my favourite part of the day. Because the best wedding photos come from creating a space where people feel comfortable enough to just be themselves. I think thatā€™s what Iā€™m really trying to capture these days. Not perfection. Not perfectly posed. Just people, exactly as they are. Because years from now, I donā€™t think youā€™ll remember where your hand was meant to go or whether your dress sat perfectly. Youā€™ll remember how it felt. And on Saturdays, Liverpool comes alive. ā¤ļøšŸ“ø Toda And on Saturdays, Liverpool comes alive. ā¤ļøšŸ“ø Today I headed out with my camera to photograph my friend Paul, who was playing at Heebie Jeebies. As always... Liverpool had other plansā€¦ Before Iā€™d even reached Seal Street, Iā€™d already found live music, old buildings full of stories, record shops, people spilling out onto the pavements, friends catching up on pub steps, and strangers laughing together like theyā€™d known each other forever. Thatā€™s what I love about street photography. Iā€™m not really chasing landmarks. Iā€™m chasing atmosphere. The feeling of a city thatā€™s constantly moving, but somehow never feels rushed. A place where history sits beside something brand new, where every corner has its own personality, and where a simple walk can turn into an adventure. These arenā€™t just photos to meā€¦ Theyā€™re little reminders to look up, slow down, and notice whatā€™s already there. Because there is so much life happening around us every single day, and itā€™s so easy to miss when weā€™re busy thinking about whatā€™s next. Iā€™m literally falling in love with Liverpool a little more every time I head out with my camera. And I genuinely think this is only the beginning. The more I photograph this city, the more I feel like Iā€™m creating something bigger than individual images. Iā€™m collecting moments. Little pieces of everyday life that deserve to be remembered. Iā€™d love to share them one day, maybe even on the walls of an exhibition. For now...
